Global Citizen Journey is seeking interns and volunteers
Discover the Opportunities with Global Citizen Journey as an intern or volunteer… and develop your capacity as a citizen diplomat. We are developing our website, communication materials, conducting research to support our Liberia Peacebuilding Initiative, editing videos and much more – so your skills, talents and energies are welcomed.
You will also learn about our trips to the Niger Delta and Ghana and our work in Burundi … and the unfolding plans for building a sustainable grassroots peace movement in Liberia, as well as emerging activities in developing a Transpartisan Alliance here in the US, building understanding across the political divide
Tuesday, June 7, Orientation from 5:15 to 6:00 (you are welcomed to remain for the work-team meeting that follows, from 6:00 to 8:30- potluck supper) — location in Seattle/Fremont neighborhood–call 206 783 8561 to RSVP and get the address.
During this stimulating session with video, slides and conversation you will learn about the mission and vision of Global Citizen Journey, a unique Seattle-based nonprofit. We will share stories from our first journey to the Niger Delta in 2005 when we brought 19 Puget Sound residents with 21 Nigerians from all around Nigeria, to live in a small village where we completed the first library in this oil rich, environmentally devastated region. You’ll hear stories from our second Journey to the poor coastal town of Axim, Ghana, where 15 US joined 14 Ghanaians in circle work, Town Hall meetings, educational/health outreach and building of an orphanage and community center. And you’ll learn about the second harvest of the Burundi woman on their land purchased by GCJ.
Most importantly, you’ll learn how you can help support GCJ’s next Journeys, to Liberia and to Ghana. We are developing a partnership with The Population Caring Organization (PCO), and other non-profits in Liberia to launch the Liberia Peacebuilder Initiative to build a community-based network to foster conflict resolution, reconciliation and sustainable peace at the grass roots, to help stabilize Liberia and grow the peace it has begun to experience. We are dedicated to work with local partners in Liberia to build true peace at the grassroots – from the bottom up (vs. governmental declarations). With your participation, Global Citizen Journey can create a unique delegation of peacemakers to support this seminal venture.
